Sweat, baby, sweat…shirt

Introductory rambling (it’s funny, I promise)

Do you know that time of the year when it’s no longer so chilly, but even the hypothetical thought of wearing any summer clothes is still laughable? I heard some people calling it “spring” 🌻 And spring into action it was to me! 💨

Before we continue… Are you still with me? Does your attention still hold up? You can take a scroll break anytime, it’s okay 🥲

So, I decided to dress for the weather that is, not the weather I wish it was, and make a sweatshirt. I’ve received some nice feedback on my previous post that I cleared all doubts on what a bodysuit is! 👏 This made me fear that any other dictionary explanation I provide can only go downhill. Therefore, as a sensible and mature adult, I will opt out of trying altogether. I’m sure you know what a sweatshirt is🤞

The grand reveal

I hear you thinking: “doesn’t the grand reveal normally go at the end?”. This is classic ‘inside-the-box-thinking’, shame on you 😂

Do I like it?

What do I think about the final result? Well, firstly, the sunlight is very harsh on the pictures, lesson learnt 😆☀️

On a sweatshirt note – it was exactly an item I needed, 💯 spot on, instantly wearable, practical and already a cult item in my wardrobe. I like that it’s unassuming, I can style it with quite a bit of jewellery; but at the same time – it’s not boring, it can be worn on its own (colour-blocking probably helps with that).

Moreover, let’s not forget this sweatshirt is made in the most wonderful colours 🤩 It reminds me of ice cream and you know what, I’m the type of person who eats ice cream all year round, so cones, I mean, cheers, to that🍦

Paola sweater (by Fibre Mood) pattern review

My thoughts on the pattern:

• Really interesting design, I adore the ballooning 🎈sleeves
• The instructions are a bit confusing and could be re-written better
  • The actual garment is actually quite simple to make
• A bit disappointed it says to use “rib trim” fabric, but does not clarify what’s the expected stretch percentage. I never find a rib knit that matches the colour of my main fabric, therefore would be useful to know how can I substitute.

Final words

Quick and almost painless – sewing this sweatshirt was a delight 🍰 And I’ll be delighted to wear it. Your move, spring 🌈
